March 2023: Touro Health

This month I continued to volunteer in the emergency department at Touro Health. I volunteered from 4pm-7pm on the 7th and 14th. I am a starting to get the hang of things in the department and meet new medical personnel in the department. I also am enjoying listening to the nurses talk about what they are administering to the patients. I am able to recognize a lot of the drugs which makes me excited as well.

This month has had a lot of social events that I enjoyed very much. The first crawfish boil of this month was really good but cold! I love crawfish so I was excited to go and meet new people. I wish the weather was a little better because I couldn’t stay long. The pharmacology crawfish boil had much better weather and was very enjoyable as well. It was a great way to take a study break and enjoy each other’s company with the great weather. It was also my first time at the Fly and it was really beautiful. That is definitely a place I will go back to take a walk or do some studying.

Aside from those things, March has been a little rocky for me. The fluctuation of the weather and my not-so-great immune system has caused me to catch a couple of colds which was not fun. Also, the anticipation of our final for Med Pharm has been very stressful. There is so much content I am trying to recall and review from last semester. To make things worse, the exam is on my birthday! Once that is complete, I will feel much better and will be able to celebrate. Hopefully, April will be much better as we close out the program for the year!
