October: Volunteer at Touro Health & Curriculum

This month I was supposed to begin volunteering in the Emergency Department at Touro Hospital at LMCM Health. Unfortunately, my screening has been taking a while as the office had to move after I applied. Once my results come back from my screening, I should be ready to volunteer! I am really excited to start working so closely with several health professionals as well as meeting new patients. I won’t be able to take any pictures inside, however, I got some cool new gray scrubs that I can post next month before I go in for my shift.

As far as curriculum goes, the exams were definitely more challenging this month. Despite that, I challenged myself to find new study spots and tricks. I started using the study rooms in the BMS lounge and I loved using the large white boards! I also found out that rewriting notes and summaries with the “old school” paper and pen method worked really well for me.
